Paper Crafting Easter Decor

I have very little in the way of decor for Easter. Of course I have my stick wreath which I change out for every season. You can see my 4th of July, Thanksgiving and Christmas wreaths here. I had a purple and green ribbon for it, but it just looked too boring and bland. I found some coordinating scrapbook papers in purples, greens and blues and freehanded an egg shape which I used as a template. After cutting out all of the eggs, I slid some of the eggs into the wreath using twigs to hold the eggs in place. Immediately, it looked much more interesting, but I had something else up my sleeve! I then dug through my scrapbook paper scraps and created a little paper bunny to peek out of my wreath.

He is so stinking cute! I love it!
I had several paper eggs left, so I decided to create a garland much like the candy corn garland I created for Halloween (I just realized that I never posted pics of this garland, bad blogger). I cut out the letters to spell, "Happy Easter" and "Welcome Spring". I glued the letters to the eggs and then hot glued the eggs to a coordinating ribbon to create a garland. I hung one from my mantle:

I used the other garland on the china hutch in our dining room:

This project cost me no money because I had all of the supplies on hand. This is the second time that I have used my scrapbook papers to create holiday decor in my home and I think that I will probably be making a paper garland for each holiday. These little touches really helped to bring a little bit of the brightness of spring into our home and also a little bit of whimsy for the kids. I have another project that I would like to attempt for spring, but am waiting to get together the supplies. Do you decorate for Spring/Easter? How?

Fall Decor

Though I have had my fall decor up for about 2 weeks, I finally decided to take a few pictures and show it off.

This little guy greets you as you enter our driveway. He was one of my first seasonal decor purchases. Though he has lost his legs, he is still so cute!

This runner was a gift and was quilted by my mother. The runner fits perfectly on the buffet in our dining room. My mom lives about 2 hours away and I don't see her as often as I would like, but this runner and other things throughout the house remind me of her and make me smile!

This wall hanging found a place on our dining room table. It was also a gift that my mother quilted. Though it is really Thanksgiving, the colors go really well with my fall decor and then I get to enjoy my mother's handiwork a little bit longer.

Finally, I removed the red, white and blue ribbons from my Summer wreath and wrapped it in a brown ribbon. I added a few sticks with pumpkins and gourds purchased a couple years ago at the Dollar Store. Using the sticks allows me to easily remove them and change it according to the season.

I have a few things that I would like to make to add to my decor, including another wreath for my front door and some cute little pumpkins. I also need to make another pumpkin topiary.

4th of July Wreath

I have a very large twig wreath in my entryway that I like to decorate according to the holidays. For the summer I have it decorated in red, white and blue from Memorial day to Labor day. I wrapped the wreath in red and white stripped ribbon. I then strung some gold star garland around the wreath, sticking it behind twigs occassionally to keep it in place. Finally, I took some leftover red and white ribbon and blue ribbon and made 2 bows which I placed on top of each other to one side of the wreath, again using a twig to hold them in place. It is very simple and inexpensive to decorate. Often you can buy spools of holiday themed ribbon for anywhere from $1-$5. The possibilities for decorating this wreath would really be endless.
